Project: Storage Facility in Heidelberg Heights

Scope: Comprehensive lift upgrade to improve reliability and extend lifespan

Key Brands Used: LiSA Controller (Germany), Wittur Doors (Germany), Hyspec (Melbourne), Blain Valves (Germany)

Aging infrastructure and obsolete components were causing frequent breakdowns in this 1950s-era lift, leading to disruptive service interruptions and high operational costs for the client.

The unavailability of replacement parts made full lift replacement an expensive option, with costs exceeding $300,000 including building works and a substantial downtime for installation which was just not possible for this clients business. Instead, we provided a cost-effective modernisation at less than half the price, half the time, giving the lift a new lease on life.

The project was completed in three stages to minimise disruption to the clients with each stage of the upgrade taking around 2 weeks, spread over 3 months. This kind of program also assists the clients in a more palatable cash flow throughout the project, especially in comparison with replacement lifts which have high costs during the procurement phase.

This high-quality modernisation not only restored lift functionality but significantly improved reliability and compliance—all while avoiding the substantial cost of full replacement. With premium European components, a future-proof control system, and a fully optimised hydraulic setup, the client now has a smooth, dependable, and cost-efficient lift solution for years to come.

Modernisation Approach

State-of-the-Art Controller Upgrade
We replaced the outdated system with a German-engineered LiSA 20 solid-state controller, ensuring precise operation, enhanced safety, and long-term reliability. The entire lift machine room was rewired, a new distribution board and emergency lighting were installed, and an absolute encoder was integrated for accurate floor leveling.

Hydraulic Power Pack Replacement
The existing hydraulic system was upgraded with a Hyspec Hydraulic Power Pack, featuring German Blain Valves for smooth, efficient operation. This included a full oil replacement and performance tuning to maximise lift efficiency.

High-Quality European Door System Upgrade
Frequent breakdowns were largely due to aging, unsupported door mechanisms. We installed a Wittur AMD car door operator and landing door mechanisms, ensuring reliable, long-term operation while retaining existing door panels and sills for cost efficiency.
